Leo van Grunsven, obtained his PhD at the Ecole Normale Superieur de Lyon (France) in 1996. After a short stay as a post-doc in the lab of Ron McKay at the NINDS (Bethesda, USA) he continued his post-doc for 8 years in the lab of Danny Huylebroeck (KUL/VIB). He joined the department of Cell Biology (CYTO-VUB) of Prof. Albert Geerts in 2006. Since October 2009, he has been appointed as full time research professor at the department for Cell Biology. After Prof. Geerts had passed away in January 2009, he became the coordinator of the former CYTO group. In December 2009 a new research team was established in collaboration with Prof. Hendrik Reynaert (Physiology-VUB) and Prof. Daniel Urbain (Gastroenterology-UZ Brussel) : LIVR (Liver Cell Biology Lab).

Laurent Dollé obtained his PhD degree at University of Sciences and Technologies of Lille (France) under the direction of Dr. Prof. Hondermarck (2003). He is cell biologist/physiologist and during 4 years he worked as a post-doc in the laboratory of Prof. M. Mareel at the University of Ghent. He joined the CYTO lab of Prof. Geerts in the beginning of 2007 to work on hepatic stem/progenitor cells and their niche.

Eduardo Guimaraes is PhD student for the CYTO-LIVR since 2008. He received his Master degree in Biochemistry in 2006 at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul,(Brasil) with a study on "Modulation of PPARs during phenotypic transformation of a hepatic stellate cell line".
